I’m a skeptic, I love my mainstream science and healthcare, and avoided anything “fluffy” for a long time. Unfortunately I also avoided feeling things and being present, and eventually bit the bullet and tried a few non-threatening grounding/somatic activities.
Breathwork and other activities were a nightmare for me personally, and way too hard to start with. To be fair, I find sound healing sessions hard too - to stay present, to actually relax, for my brain to stop begging me to walk out after 10 minutes. But afterwards I feel incredible, and 10 minutes has turned to 15, has turned to 20… and so far I’ve calmly lasted two whole sessions from start to finish, and without rolling my third eye!
Everyone experiences this differently, but imagine a comfortable room with blankets, pillows and safe people, a gentle meditation and then soft sounds like gentle drumming and rain sticks. Next comes the bowls - huge resonating notes covering you, where I sometimes feel my face vibrate. I feel muscles melt and my brain take pauses. When it ends I’m calm, clear, grounded and feel safe, where I haven’t felt that in a long time. This feeling is also lasting me longer and longer, and getting easier to reach again during the week.
I’m almost disappointed I can’t finish each session with “once again I hated it, thank you so much and I’ll see you next week”, knowing the struggle was worth the outcome. It’s not a struggle anymore! But Danielle has also been patient, informative, generous, and tailored elements to my needs and preferences.
To be fair for some it is just relaxing with sound and quite easy, but I do recommend this for everyone, regardless of your skepticism or spiritual leaning, mental or physical health or illness - give it a go or two. It’s fair to say that Katherine needs this.
